Malaysia esports in 2026: what's live, what's next, and the teams carrying the flag

MPL Malaysia Season 18

Week 1 has seven official matches at the MPL MY Arena, Quill City Mall, from 14–16 August.

Ringkasan: The centre of Malaysian esports right now is MPL Malaysia Season 18, opening 14 August at Quill City Mall, KL, with Selangor Red Giants chasing a sixth straight title. This hub routes you to our live event pages and tracks Malaysia's place in the international MLBB calendar — with every claim labelled confirmed or pending.

The state of play, mid-2026

Malaysian esports enters the second half of 2026 with one dominant gravitational centre — Mobile Legends: Bang Bang — and a clear headline act. Selangor Red Giants closed Season 17 in June with a 4–0 Grand Final sweep of Team Vamos at Stadium Juara Bukit Kiara, their fifth consecutive domestic crown. Season 18, starting 14 August, is therefore not just another split: it is a sixth-title attempt after a record five-peat, staged in a league that now runs on a closed partnership model with eight selected teams.

The international backdrop has been eventful too. January's M7 World Championship — hosted at Istora Senayan in Jakarta — ended with the Philippines' Aurora Gaming sweeping Indonesia's Alter Ego 4–0 in the final for the US$320,000 first prize, with Dylan "Light" Catipon named Finals MVP. And this summer, the Mid Season Cup ran in Paris for the first time, folded into the Esports World Cup with a US$3 million pool. The lesson for Malaysian fans in both cases was the same: the region's ceiling keeps rising, and reclaiming a world title runs through an ever-deeper field.

Live now and next: our event hubs

MPL Malaysia Season 18 — 14 August to 18 October, MPL MY Arena, Quill City Mall, KL. Eight partnership teams, a mid-season Asian Games break (21 September–4 October), and one confirmed calendar tweak (10 October moved to 8 October for the MLBB 10th anniversary). Our dedicated hub carries the Week 1 card, team list, ticket details via t2u.asia and — once the season starts — live standings and results. That page is the single canonical URL for the whole season, from pre-season through the Grand Final.

Honor of Kings World Cup — our international desk maintains the KWC live hub in the English section, and Malaysian readers following the Honor of Kings scene are routed there; event status, schedule and results live on that page rather than being duplicated here.

Malaysian teams and names to follow

• Selangor Red Giants — the standard-bearers: four straight MPL MY titles, recent MSC appearances at the Esports World Cup in 2024 and 2025, and an IESF world-championship pedigree flying Malaysia's colours. Roamer "Yums" took Finals MVP in the Season 17 sweep.
• Team Vamos — Season 17 runners-up and, on current evidence, the likeliest challengers to the dynasty.
• RRQ, Invictus Gaming, Bigetron MY by VIT — international brands operating Malaysian divisions in the partnership league, each bringing regional infrastructure to the local scene.
• Team Rey, All Combo, Team Flash — the partnership slots that round out the eight, all hunting a first title of the era.
• Team HAQ — a notable Malaysian organisation beyond the current MPL eight, part of the country's wider competitive fabric.

How our live event pages work

Every event we cover gets one canonical URL that lives through the full cycle — pre-event, live, results, aftermath — instead of scattered one-off posts. Three rules apply everywhere:

1. No invented data. No mocked-up standings before a season starts, no "expected rosters", no assumed broadcast channels. If Season 18's patch hasn't been announced, the page says exactly that.
2. Status labels on every claim. Confirmed means an official or first-party source; pending means we are tracking an announcement; conflicting means sources disagree and we show the disagreement rather than silently picking a side.
3. Same-URL updates. When a match ends, its page gains the result; when a season table changes, the hub's table changes. Bookmarks never go stale.

Malaysia esports calendar (confirmed dates only)

Dates are added here only once officially announced — which is why this table is deliberately short. Post-season international assignments for S18's top finishers remain unannounced and therefore unlisted.
